Albatross Age Group divers can be proud of their achievements and look forward to starting the new season having enjoyed a successful and well run Swim England National Age Groups Championships 2024 at the Sandwell Aquatic Centre in Birmingham.
A fabulous 4 days of diving from the team saw a strong performance from Fin on all 3 boards with a well deserved bronze medal on 1m and his best ever Reverse 1 1/2 on 3m.
Hannah, recovering from a broken wrist, decided to focus on 1m this year, and it proved a good decision achieving 207 points, very close to her personal best. She too joined Naya in a joyous 3m Synchro where the girls were clearly loving every moment.
Naya had a lengthy 21/2 hour 1m event where she maintained her focus coming 18th in a large field. She then competed confidently on 3m and platform where she improved her position to 13th with a consistent set of dives. She now sets of for Turkey and Bulgaria for a summer of training and competition and we wish her well.
We thank Swim England for their event organisation and Sandwell Aquatic Centre for hosting. Without volunteers these events would not be possible and Albatross were, once again, happy to support the judging and recording teams with club members.
We’re now looking forward to the new pool and the opportunity to train 3m in every session (not just once a week) and having access to 5m platform at every session as well. Our new full club programme starts at Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading tomorrow, 1 July. We can’t wait!
