National Award Winner

After the clubs recent success winning the Regional Diving Club of the Year Albatross now has the honour of being awarded the National Diving Club of the Year at todays Swim England National Awards ceremony in The Great Hall, Birmingham. With nominees from across the country Albatross were applauded for their “family feel” as worthy winners of this prestigious award.

Collected by Malcolm and Emma on behalf of the club they thanked their supporters saying “this award means so much for us all
– to Anne as our Club President who started the club in 1968 as part of Reading Swimming Club and then established us as a stand alone club 10 years later in 1978, to Malcolm and Jeff who have both been involved with the club for the best part of 50 years, to all the many coaches and committee who have supported the club over its long history and to our members and parents, past and present, many of whom are new but some of whom have stayed with us over the transitioning period of over 6 years when we were travelling to pools every weekend to support our competitive programme after Central Pool closed. This award is for us all.”

We thank Swim England for their support and recognition and all our diving friends at clubs around the country many of whom have ensured that we have had pool time when we needed it which allowed us to maintain our presence on the national podiums.

Thank you.
