Diving facilities

Brand new diving facility

Albatross Diving Club is now based at our brand new diving facility at Rivermead Leisure Centre. With brand new boards this brand new pool has everything you need to start diving.

Albatross run a lesson programme for children of all ages and abilities. Our Learn to Dive sessions have been developed to teach children to dive in ways that are both safe and fun without the pressure of competitive squad training. As children develop their diving skills they have the opportunity to progress through the Swim England Diving Award Scheme (levels 1-7) and will be awarded a certificate and pin badge to mark each achievement. Our Learn to Dive programme is open to all; the only requirement is that children must be to able to swim in deep water without goggles and climb out of the pool without the use of steps.

We also have recretional teen diving and adult specific sessions lessons running on Thursday evenings 7:45-8:45pm.

Our facilities at Rivermead include 1m, 3m and 5m boards perfect for learning to dive and club training.

Learn to dive in Reading

Training sessions start from 30 minutes pool training.

Sessions run throughout the year including school holidays with fees starting from £33 pcm for half hour Learn to Dive sessions.

Session times are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday and Sundays daytime.

We believe diving can be enjoyed at all levels; both recreationally and competitively. When divers on the Learn to Dive programme reach a certain level they may be invited to try out for the Pre-Skills Right Track competitive squad if they are interested in exploring competitive diving.

In accordance with the club’s governance fees are set to ensure we are accessible to as many members as possible whilst ensuring that all divers are able to realise their potential within the sport of diving through effective and appropriate training provision.

Fees are used in the following key areas

  • Facility hire – pool and dry training
  • Capital investment and maintenance – boards/training equipment/video capture
  • Coach attendance at competitions (when not covered by Swim England subsidy)
  • Swim England membership for coaches and divers
  • Insurance for Albatross Diving Club, members and coaches
  • Essential Club Administration
  • Coach Training & Development

All expenditure is recorded and audited annually in accordance with UK legal requirements.
